Historic Architecture

Sculpture #1
Saint Augustin Home
Whiteboard, hard stock paper, wood glue, tape,
orange ink, hot glue.

Detail:

first inspiration: Henry Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church
Visually exquisite, the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church was built by Henry Flagler in 1889. It is one of his most significant projects, because it was constructed as a memorial to Flagler’s only daughter, Jenny. The mausoleum adjacent to the church is where Flagler, his daughter, granddaughter and first wife are buried.

Sculpture #2
Warlocks Whebelo

Dinner And A Movie

 Delicate Delicious Deed
Inspired by the movie Marie Antoinette

This piece is about fragile femininity of another time period. It represents commencement of marriage and child. It represents virginity, or rather the taking of virginity. It represents the stress of concieving a child. It represents the requirement of a child to make a marriage "just", especially in the royal families of the world. Lastly, this tablescape represents overconsumption and the constant need for more.

I decided to make the tablescape for one person rather than multiple people to communicate the loneliness that the character experienced. I also wanted to communicate that the character had given birth or had sex, seeing as the cake is red. The red and white cake also represents the Austrian flag. Lastly, the overabundance of sweets, cigarettes, and drinks represents the overconsumption for unneccessary substances throughout the movie.

My Favorite Things 3/3

✦ My Girlfriend

My third example of a few of my favorite things would definitely be my girlfriend <333 Her name is Ella Arvidson and she also attends Flagler College. Her major is Elementary Education and her minor is Fine Arts (just like me!) We have been together for almost 7 months and she is the light of my life!

We met for the first time in an education class, although we only shared a gaze. It wasn't until the second semester of sophomore year we first hung out with a mutual friend and sort of hit it off. Ever since, we have spent hundreds of days happily in each other's company. We had a lovely summer together and we are really looking forward to a Flagship 2025 trip to South Korea together!

✦ My Journals

My second example of one of my favorite things would have to be my collection of journals! Ever since the middle of high school, I've started to use these notebooks from a brand called Moleskine. They are leather notebooks that come in many different sizes and page styles, included lined, dotted, and even grid pages.

I used to use them for daily to do lists and journal entries, but recently I have been using the smaller green planner in the photo above. It has served me a great service- being able to access everything in one book. I also like to sketch and write poetry from time to time in these books, and take them everywhere with me.

For the past few years, it has been a very nice system to write a to-do list for the next day every evening, and then the next day, have a guide for everything I need to get done in that day. And the best and most validating part is sitting in bed at the end of the day and crossing everything off my list. Not to mention I love decorating my journal!
